Stacking diamond rings: Learning the trick

Most of the time, we are one ring women. But some days are quirkier than the rest and call for something different. All of us have experimented with stacking diamond rings at least once in our lives. There is no end to the number of ways in which you can style and stack all the rings you own.

Stacking diamond rings is not an easy task. Especially for those of us who have never worn stacks before. To begin with, not many of us own more than a few diamond rings. Whether they are similar or not, we generally do not wear them all together. You can stack your rings to work if a formal dress code is not a necessity.

Who knows, you might end up creating a style statement that will stay with you for a while. If you have never tried stacking diamond rings before, here are a few tips on how to start.:

Add different rings

The very first rule of stacking is to play with variety. If you have rings that are completely studded with gemstones or diamonds, try adding some plain gold rings to the stack. Each finger should have at least one ring that does not have any stones on it. You can also wear different designs instead of plain bands.

Mix and match metals

You may have a favourite metal colour but could still own rings in other colours. Use a combination of white and yellow gold or white and rose gold while stacking diamond rings. On more casual occasions, you can pair oxidised silver and bronze rings for a rustic look. They help kill the monotony of wearing the same colour metal.

Use eternity rings

Eternity rings make for a great stacking option. They are rings studded with one single line of diamonds all around the band. Such rings can be alternated with plain metal bands that are slightly thicker. Even if you wear plain rings that are of the same thickness, keep some space between two rings.

Avoid over stacking

More is less but not in this case. Try not to stack more than three rings together. If they are thicker rings then stick to just a pair. Even if you have long fingers, avoid over stacking. You can either stack two or three rings together or keep them separate along the finger.

Don’t stack all fingers

Even if you use fewer rings, leaving one or two fingers bare looks elegant. It is best to stack alternate fingers for a clean look. Wearing rings on the thumb also looks smart but some people prefer to leave that finger bare. It’s a matter of choice and you can decide which finger it’ll be. You can choose to leave out the ring finger if it already has a diamond engagement ring on it.

While you might be in awe of someone who has mastered the art of stacking diamond rings, a little help is good enough to get you started. At the end of the day, only you can figure out what suits you best. If there is a certain style that suits you the best, you can also make a note of the sequence for future reference!
